Emma Gibbons

Emma Gibbons has been working in Madagascar for the past seventeen years the field of
conservation and humanitarian work, involved in the field of research, project management, and
community development. Emma’s core field is developing strategies for tangible poverty
alleviation and ecosystem conservation that benefit coastal and terrestrial communities helping to
protect biodiversity for the long- erm survival of this unique region and its people. As executive
director of the organisation Reef Doctor, Emma has developed strategic partners that have
influenced significant change for the communities in the area. Ranging from World Bank funded
community-based aquaculture projects, Dynamic Agroforestry, and the ‘Coral Reef Alliance’
award-winning community-based artificial reef program.
